Abstract

This panel explores how feminist activists have responded to failure and built resilience in the face of backlash. The papers address different challenges facing feminist activists, from the refusal to acknowledge and address sexual violence within social movements to exhaustion and burnout that stems from fighting entrenched structures of patriarchal violence. At the same time, they reveal innovative strategies of cultivating hope in the face of failure, from politicized forms of healing and care to everyday practices of survival.
