Abstract

Norms of feminist governance have been globally disseminated since 1975 but conceptual and implementation deficits have been readily identified by feminist scholars. These include issues relating to intersectionality, examined here in terms of representation of minorities in parliamentary consultations in Sweden. Other papers examine bureaucratic resistance in Norway and negotiation of gender perspectives into post-pandemic policy-making in Spain. The most optimistic paper in the panel assesses progress in relation to the care economy in Australia, despite post-colonial and neo-liberal policy legacies. The most pessimistic is the paper on the trajectory of feminist governance in Poland, finding a lack of institutional ‘stickiness’, not only in the context of right-wing populist governance but also in the current pro-democracy environment.
