Abstract

This panel focuses on far-right populism and conservative backlash on gender equality, feminism and LGBTIQ+ rights. Papers examine the discourses of actors opposing gender equality, LGBTIQ+ rights and reproductive rights, including the reactions and responses of pro-equality actors, in various contexts, from authoritarian states to welfare states. It shows the impact of anti-gender politics and the far-right on society, public opinion, norms and policies, while also discussing the dynamics of democratic erosion at play.
