Abstract

This panel explores gender-related activism and intersectional identities in political discourse. Across a range of issues including climate politics, reproductive rights campaigns, and gender-based violence policy debates, the papers examine how actors frame issues to construct and contest gendered narratives. The panel extends beyond political parties and politicians, analysing a range of actors including celebrity activists, social media creators, and civil society organisations. highlighting how activism circulates through mediated and organisational arenas. A common theme across papers is how intersecting identities - such as age, race/ethnicity, and religion - shape whose voices are amplified, how issues are articulated, and what forms of representation are possible.
