Abstract

This is a mixed panel, with papers exploring the following themes: the European Union’s influence and agency in maritime spaces and other areas beyond national jurisdiction, the role of EU institutions, particularly the European Parliament, in foreign and security policy-making; contestation, polarization, and norm conflict in EU external relations, including human rights promotion; and the interaction between internal political dynamics, external power shifts, and international negotiation processes. Taken together, the papers shed light on how the EU seeks to exercise influence, leadership, and normative power in a changing and increasingly contested global order.
