Abstract

Agriculture is an industry that is simultaneously affected by and influences trade policy making. In this panel we explore different aspects of the current situation where new bilateral agreements increasingly replace the multilateral trade regime. In addition to general trade policy, the paper covers topics such as geographical indicators and agri-food governance, food security and economic liberalisation, and the relationship between environmental concerns and trade. Empirically the papers cover both EU and non-EU cases.
