Abstract

This panel investigates citizens’ preferences for alternative democratic models and governance arrangements beyond traditional elections. Contributions combine comparative, experimental, and mixed-methods approaches to explore how values, interests, and deliberation shape support for sortition, referendums, expert rule, and other democratic innovations.
