Abstract

In recent years, several major events have affected the implementation of human rights and gender politics. This panel seeks to answer the question how contemporary human rights regimes both challenge and reproduce gendered power relations, drawing on legal, institutional, and advocacy perspectives. The panel also addresses contestation and backlash, analyzing anti gender movements, “gender ideology” narratives, and gendered framing in human rights campaigns.
