Abstract

Organised by the Standing Group on Gender and Politics Publishing is a cornerstone of academic advancement, allowing researchers to share their work with the wider scholarly community. In this session Robert Huber, Editor of the European Journal of Political Research, and Elin Bjarnegård, a book series editor at Oxford University Press (Studies in Feminist Institutionalism) and former Assistant Editor of the European Journal of Politics and Gender will share their insights as accomplished researchers and journal/book series editors. Join this workshop to gain practical tips on how to navigate the intricate journey to getting published! This workshop will allow you to: • Get a glimpse into the black box of editorial processes • Learn how to frame your article and select the right journal for it • Discover strategies for publishing on marginalised topics and non-mainsteam methodological and theoretical approaches • Gain tips on how to avoid your manuscript being desk-rejected • Learn how to do a good revision and write a good letter of revisions • Get insights into how to turn your PhD thesis into a book or make another book proposal If you have specific themes and questions you would be interested to discuss, you can send then beforehand to the chair (anna.elomaki@tuni.fi).
