Gendering policy analysis: theoretical lessons learned from body politics The body has been the target of policies for a long time (birth-rate, abortion, health, sterilisation, euthanasia, prostitution...). But despite a great amount of body-political activity, policy analysis has not paid much attention to the body. What are the reasons for this discrepancy? Most of the few contribution to this field of policy analysis come from feminist scholars who insist that the body as a target of politics is not gender-neutral. What can we learn from these studies? What are the concepts, research questions and methodological tools we need to develop a gender sensitive analysis of body policies? What are appropriate theoretical approaches in policy analysis and how should they be modified with regard to gender? What can a gender-sensitive inquiry into body policies contribute to a theory of policy analysis?
