Abstract

This panel is devoted to exploring the different ways in which political freedom was conceptualized in the past as well as in the present. It aims to contrast and compare the different ways in which freedom was conceptualized throughout time by different political thinkers and in different political traditions, as well as to evaluate the usefulness of these different theories of freedom for present-day purposes. In doing so, the main goal of the panel is to set up a dialogue between the historical and systematic approaches to political theory in general and political freedom more in particular.
