Abstract

The 'Third World' was conceptualised as a political space neutral towards the East-West Cold War rivalry, mainly constituted by states in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America. Linked together mainly due to their common concerns towards the superpowers, these states shared few in common after the end of bipolarity. Accordingly, these regions re-emerged as political spaces following the end of the Cold War. This panel seeks to analyse the distinct political dynamics in the former Third World regions.
