Does identity really effect political behaviour and, if so, does it matter? How does both collective and individual identity impact political action? How are identity issues linked to citizen politics in the digital age? How does collective identity fragmentation influence the moral underpinnings of social cohesion and civic-ness? The panel collect the most promising submitted papers which deal with these questions. They are based on empirical data from Russia, Tunesia, Lithuania, Turkey and both the European Value Survey and the World Value Survey. Accordingly, the contributions could enrich our knowledge about the matter at hand with insights from established, young, fledging and would-be democracies.
