Evolve or Die: Security Institutions as Relevant Actors?

Abstract

Do institutions still matter for addressing both traditional and emerging security challenges – especially if this means changing domestic governnace? If so, under what circumstances? Are some institutions more effective than others? If so, how? This panel will address the degree to which the existing constellation of institutions are adequate, or whether and how changes might be beneficial.
