Abstract

Movements for social change are important sites for the study of power, representation and the political strategies of activists. For many minority women, social movement spaces bring into sharp relief the politics of intersectionality whereby their positioning at different axes of difference frame how and whether their political claims are heard by oppositional groups, institutional actors and movement allies. This panel explores how minority women organise and mobilise for justice and how they use their race, ethnicity and gender as resources for activism and resistance.
