Abstract

This panel is based on the assumption that language offers only limited tools when analyzing art. The panel, therefore, wants to explore what can be done in political research to engage with, and go beyond, the limits of language when analyzing art. As Bleiker argues, in the study of aesthetics we can utilize a broader register of sensibilities and insights than practices of reason. This utilization of different senses and sensibilities relates to art’s role in expressing emotions. Thus, the panel encourages papers which also discuss different methodologies in the study of emotions, vulnerabilities and art. The panel encourages paper presentations with an artistic twist, be it musical, poetic or visual and collaborative presentations by artists and scholars.
