Canadian and European Foreign Policies: Relations and Comparisons

Abstract

Sponsored by Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue This panel explores points of actual and potential intersection between Canadian and European foreign policy approaches. With a particular focus on how Canada has negotiated its role as a middle power in the international environment, the papers examines Canadian contributions to burden sharing within the NATO alliance, Canada’s use of military resources in the interests of peacekeeping, and the application of principles of corporate social responsibility in external relations in light of approaches taken in Europe and in the international sphere more broadly.
