Abstract

Women’s representation has attracted considerable scholarly attention, recently there has been a turn away from counting the aggregate numbers of women towards diversity amongst and between women. This is important; if group representation matters then diversity within that group is equally important for matters of accountability, legitimacy and democracy. This panel brings together scholars working on diversity and political representation in order to explore the complex challenges facing those who seek to promote less homogenous legislatures.
