The promotion of diversity has attracted growing attention across Western and non-Western governments and has been increasingly included in national, international and supranational action plans and policies. While gender equality policy is continuously negotiated, contested, and resisted after its adoption, scholars have neglected the phases hereafter (e.g. implementation, evaluation and monitoring). This panel aims to understand when, how and under what conditions gender equality policies are implemented and to the extent to which they succeed in effectively promoting diversity and gender equality.
