Abstract

This panel addresses the subject of non-elected elites and their political careers. While considerable attention has been paid to the career trajectories of elected elites who are subject to identifiable principal-agent dynamics, this is less-so the case for unelected elites whose activities and political behaviour are either protected by the nature of the position or made less visible to external scrutiny.
