Abstract

The emergence of the international norm of FPIC has considerably transformed indigenous expectations about their role in resources development as well as the rules of the game for project proponents and governments. What mechanisms have emerged to address indigenous demands for greater say in resources management? What are the limits of these mechanisms? What is the role of private sector actors in this emerging regime of indigenous participation in the political economy of natural resources?
