Comparative Political Economy

Abstract

This panel brings together papers in comparative political economy, that though they address a variety of economic policy topics across different economic contexts, strongly speak to each other with regard to theoretical and empirical implications of redistribution policies. Two papers revisit the impact and perceptions of welfare state institutions in more economically advanced societies. The two papers study economic development policies and resource politics in developing countries and one provides the link between high income and low income countries with theoretical reflections on fair trade policies. Thus, all panelists will address important and theoretically intertwined questions about the relationship between (re)distribution choices and the functioning and vulnerabilities of contemporary statehood.
