Abstract

This panel is one from the open section that contains three at first seemingly differing presentations that coalesce around new aspects of connectivity and their contributions to democratic debate and the wider democratic process. How are the new possibilities enabled by ICT's and the relatively easy availability of data affecting the democratic discourse? The participants examine 1) the relationships between the media and corruption in 34 European countries with a special focus relating to the case of Spain 2) The outcomes of the formulation of an NGO Credibility Index in Greece and the driving forces behind it and 3) What role is social media playing in the furthering of the case against voting, particularly amongst the young in the UK general election?
