Abstract

This panel aims to analyze the way in which the European Commission faces the many challenges triggered by the process of the European integration. This panel will discuss the various models for the European integration. The question will be to know whether the EU can reconcile the economic integration and politics with a real democratic institutional order. Or if it is a necessity to entrust a substantial part of the policies of officials in the EU as an area is too large and complex as the people can be aware of the policies needed to implement. On this basis, the purpose of the panel is also to analyze the reasons of a growing Euro-skepticism, which is likely to threaten the European project. To do so, the panel aims to illustrate the mechanisms that led to the success of the Eurosceptic movements during the 2014 election to the European parliament, the possibility of an exit of the UK from the EU and the results of the last elections in the various European countries.
