Abstract

Attitudes towards a European identity have faltered between the expectation that EU membership would inevitably produce this hoped-for change in political attitudes towards a more sceptical view that questioned the possibility of a recognisable European demos. This panel looks at what has been achieved, and weighs up the perspectives of Euro-scepticism and the proponents of a European identity
