Abstract

International trade has undergone important changes in recent years, most importantly as a result of the development of global value chains (GVCs). Governments have reacted to these changes by signing agreements that try to reflect these new realities in the realm of trade. This panel aims to better understand the governance of international trade in this newest age of globalization. We invite papers that look at questions related to this theme such as: How do GVCs affect firm preferences with respect to the governance of trade? To what extent has the development of dense production networks changed trade agreements? And what are the consequences of the new generation of trade agreements for economic actors?
