Abstract

The EU is coping with internal challenges that put its unity at risk, both at state (Brexit), alliance of states (political anti-immigration coalition like the Visegrad group) and regional level (Catalonia). Furthermore, increasing segments of the Europeans give support to populist and anti-EU political parties. We welcome papers that will answer the following questions: will such challenges hinder or trigger the future of EU security cooperation? Will the path in building a defence cooperation (PESCO) be easier after Brexit? Will the defence and security cooperation be pursued in a truly community style or by building on bilateral cooperation?
