Abstract

This panel tackles democratic theory from both theoretical and empirical dimensions. The theoretical papers challenge both Wolin and Mouffe and their respective models of radical democracy attempting to think of the potential of institutionalizing them into concrete democratic practices. The more empirical cases look at a Greek and other examples looking for different conceptualizations of democratic models. The discussion looks at the relationships between theory-driven and praxis-enlightened models and ask weather deliberative democracy enhances or replaces representative democracy.
