Abstract

This Panel brings together scholars who focus on societal, political and economic challenges of policy-making. The papers address the question of how to improve the performance of public policies. How can civic engagement in voluntary associations help to improve the quality of public service delivery for aid recipient countries? How can variations between welfare state regimes in regards to policies for disease prevention and health promotion be explained best? With which aspects of governance can global the Sustainable Development Goals be achieved best? Which macro public policies are most suitable for improving the performance of governmental programs in developed countries? The aim of this panel is to bring together new research to further our understanding of the policy-making mechanisms for the public and private sector as well as civil society at national and international levels
