Abstract

In this panel we discuss various issues concerning political parties with the special focus on CEE countries and Middle East. More specifically, we will talk about divergent levels in party membership and the impact of ideological orientation of ruling parties on levels of public spending in Central and South Eastern Europe. Furthermore, we will focus on the evolution in the functions of parties and opposition in Egypt, and the relationship between adaptive capacity and party institutionalization in Turkey.
