Abstract

The extent and ways in which religion affects the making of public policies is still subject to controversial scholarly debates. In recent years, relgious infleunces have been anaylzed especially for so-called morality policies in which value conflicts are of central importance and that hence display - by definition - a closer proximity to relgioous matters. It is the objective of the panel to comapartively assess the conditions under which relgion actually affects or nor affects policy-making on morality issues, such as abortion, euthanasia, same-sex unions or prostitution.
