In this paper I review the development of the Europeanisation research agenda with a particular focus on research on Eastern European states. Two contributions will be at the center. First, following on Kevin Featherstone’s work more than one decade ago, I will track main fields of research within this paradigm, compare this to research on other Enlargement waves and identify the added value of these contributions. Methodologically this is a meta-analysis of several hundreds of research articles listed in central research databases. Second, the data used will also allow for a relational analysis of co-authorship and co-citation patterns in studies focusing on “Europeanisation East”.
