Local Government and the Big Society: Is it Really Working?

I am currently embarking on a qualitative empirical study of the way in which the Big Society is really working on the ground in local authorities and local communities in London, particularly with planning policies in mind. This paper presents this research in progress and reflects on the findings to date, demonstrating the way in which geographical location, political leadership and degrees of deprivation affect the nature of the Big Society's achievement.
