The members of the European parliament are currently elected on a national basis. However, the possibility to change the way the European elections are held in order to address the alleged democratic deficit of the European Union is often debated. In early 2014, we will launch the Website eurovoteplus.eu where all European citizens will be invited to indicate how they would cast their vote for the forthcoming 2014 European election (a) if the electoral system was different, and (b) if there was a Euro-wide district. This quasi-experimental design will allow us to study the effect of the country of origin and the political affiliation of the visitor on her vote choice.
