A survey is being passed among the 52 instructors of the ECPR Winter and Summer Schools in Methods and Techniques. Each is asked to describe her/his specialty according to 15 dimensions regarding for example type of evidence involved, scope, degree of formalization or epistemological stance. The results will be treated with multivariate tools and displayed to panel participants. This first survey may provide the basis for further inquiries, by extending the sample of methods and/or the proposed dimensions and/or by other modes of investigation.
