Abstract

This paper looks at the transfer of traumatic events through artistic representations from one location to another, for instance Goya's representation of the Napoleonic invasion of the Iberian Peninsula as reproduced in highland art by Andean artists. What does this translation of one event allow for in explaining what took place in 1980-1990s Peru, and what does it silence? How does art translate and transfer memories?
