The Creation of Political Time: A Critical Typology

Abstract

By departing from recent scholarship in political theory on the need to question the homogenisation of political time, the paper investigates the possibility to study political temporalities as a result of articulations of knowledge and government. It proposes a typology to study political temporalities as created by articulations of knowledge and government. By connecting the typology to Michel Foucault’s and Jacques Rancière’s different ways of understanding articulations of knowledge and government, the paper summaries the interpretative possibilities that the proposed typology yield to the critical study of political temporalities.
