This paper will look at the status of Kant's political philosophy in his critical philosophy as a whole. It will examine the extent to which themes in the Critique of Pure Reason and Kant's practical philosophy in general are taken up the philosophy of right and the essays on politics. I will raise the question as to whether concepts of liberty, equality and independence are more fundamental than the adherence to republicanism, and whether or not the deduction of property rights is the most central feature of Kant's political thinking.
