Hardly any empirical data is available on political attitudes and preferences of the LGBTIQ* community in Austria and Germany. We conducted surveys among the LGBTIQ* communities of Vienna (2015) and Berlin (2016) before local elections.
We will present our findings according to the following questions:
1. Which participatory instruments do gays and lesbians use?
2. Which party preferences do gays and lesbians articulate?
The aim of this comparative analysis is to examine political preferences and attitudes of gays and lesbians in Vienna and Berlin. Secondly, there is a critical reflection of the methodology a sampling by self-activation in the field of Queer Studies.
