Nowadays, Orthodox Christianity is a dominant religion in numerous counties, mostly based in Eastern Europe. Autocephalous Orthodox Churches in those countries are important historical, cultural and political actors in the social sphere. However, compared to other Christian traditions (Roman Catholicism and Protestantism), and particularly compared to other two monotheistic religions (Judaism and Islam), there is no relevant political party based in Orthodox Christianity. By focusing on evidences of Greece, Serbia and Russia, in this paper I will try to answer the following question: why there is no (relevant) political parties based in Orthodox Christianity? In my paper I shall focus on why several Orthodox Christian-based political parties failed to make a significant impact in political arena and furthermore, how dominant political parties today, which are secular, are related to Orthodoxy in Greece, Serbia and Russia.
