Abstract

This presentation will consider the potential of a research project that focuses on activism (https://www.york.ac.uk/education/research/cresj/researchthemes/citizenship-education/leverhulmeyouthactivism/) to achieve impact. This networking project involves colleagues from 6 countries (Australia, Canada, England, Hungary, Lebanon and Singapore). The in-country leads are Andrew Peterson, Mark Evans, Marta Fulop, Dina Kiwan and Jasmine Sim. I will discuss whether activism by young people could be educationally valuable or deemed as not being appropriate for the development of understanding, skills and democratic dispositions. I will also explore the ways in which the project attempted to achieve impact by learning from others through networking and bringing the results of our work to various audiences
