Model of Electoral System Change in the Post-Crisis Greece and Italy

This paper proposal attempts to outline a model of electoral system change in Greece and Italy after 2001. The research develops explanations of electoral system change in both countries and its post crisis implications. The comparative study results useful in understanding frequent changes in the electoral system in Greece and Italy after altering the constitutions in 2001, throughout the economic crisis and beyond. The starting point for theoretical as well as empirical considerations is an application of the Kenneth Benoit’s seat-maximizing model of electoral system change as an analytic narrative to understand these processes.
