Abstract

The main aim of the presentation is to analyse if priorities of the European Green Deal (EGD) as a new European Union’s (EU) development strategy meet the need of European rural communities sustainable develompent. Although rural communities are diversivied across the EU, statistical data shows that they are affected by the same types of developmental barriers (e.g: high rate of unemployment, aging processes, low level of digitalisation). The EGD strategy offers some developmental priorities and it will be examined which of them are in line with sustainable development of rural communities and support reducing developmental barriers. The reforms of common agricultural policy and the rural policy of the EU 2021-2027 will be veryfied in the context of EGD strategy implementation and rural communities development. This scientific problem has been taken up to answer the question whether the EGD strategy promote sustainable model of development of rural communities.
