Teaching Democratic Innovations in Higher Education: Community-Based Learning in South Korea

This paper examines community-based learning in Higher Education as a pedagogy of democratic innovations that aims to promote the nexus of political science teaching, research, and practice. This project will particularly focus on student-led institutional support in civic engagement education, based on a course project of the College of Social Sciences at Seoul National University, South Korea. An ‘action research’ conducted on the case of the mini-public on the mobility rights of the disabled will illustrate the potential of the course project for democratic innovation.
