Costa Rica and Nicaragua: an study of multilevel electoral differences

The research describes the manner in which electoral competition is structured in party systems and explains why unit territories in similar contexts are dynamic structures and different competition. Research shows that the electoral competition in Costa Rica is inconsistent, in contrast to Nicaragua where competition is towards more consistent. Explores a hypothesis of institutional and sociological explainations the see the differences between Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
