The aim of this is to map out the extent of politicization of the public administration in Sweden. For this purpose, we have collected new data from 1980 to 2010 regarding the political affiliation of Director Generals (DGs), the heads of public agencies. This dataset includes for example information about the DGs political and/or professional background. This material is used in order to analyse whether governments of different political colour make political appointments to the same extent and what kinds of political background that are rewarded.
