Abstract

This paper evaluates the integration and lived experiences of gender equality policies within Luxembourgish Parliamentary Administrations, focusing on their implications for work-life balance from a gender perspective. Luxembourg, ranked 7th in the EU for gender equality and 1st in financial resources by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) in 2024, and with the lowest gender pay gap according to Eurostat, provides a valuable context for examining gender mainstreaming practices. Using a mixed-method approach, including an online questionnaire and one-on-one interviews, and research on the legislative frameworks, this study explores explicit, implicit and perception of discrimination related to gender equality in the parliamentary workplace. By combining regulatory analysis, and empirical data, the research aims to understand how gender (in)equality is institutionalized in parliamentary administrations and the practical challenges in achieving work-family life balance. The findings will offer insights for the research on parliamentary administrations and gender equality advocates in the public sector.
