Abstract

Historical suffragette periodicals’ writing on transnational feminism and political transfer contributes to our knowledge about gender and politics and about the history of en-franchisement. The Danish periodicals of the time are rife with writings about organiza-tional, feminist networks, women becoming political subjects and role model -countries. These reports point towards modern time’s reasoning about global politics and transna-tional activism of both feminism and anti-genderism. This paper investigates a Danish suffragette periodical and its views ‘from the periphery’ with a focus on 1) a textual analysis of the feminist self-representation and framing of struggles in other countries with a focus on problems, diagnosis, moral judgements etc. and 2) a discussion of how to approach transnational exchange in terms of adequate concepts and perspectives.
