Abstract

How do feminist movements influence the approval of legislative proposals? To answer this question, I present the case studies on the legalization of abortion in Brazil and Argentina, based on bibliographic review, analysis of documents and articles from newspapers and magazines. The comparison between the two countries allowed to raise some explanations to why, despite the similarities regarding institutional designs and activism trajectories, this historic demand of feminist movements was institutionalized more broadly in Argentina.
