Abstract

One of the most important reforms in the history of electoral integrity was the introduction of transparency reforms of party finance. Yet what seems to have worked in the history of democracy is seriously challenged today, when many countries have introduced transparency reforms but their publics still consider political parties and politicians as extremely corrupt. This paper combines data on political finance with perception data on political corruption and fact based data on public procurement corruption to investigate the impact of political finance transparency on political corruption.
